The new Social Studies materials for GRADES 6-8 are currently available for review at the Olmsted Falls Library through Thursday, May 26th. Parents or any community members who wish to provide feedback are invited to do so using the online Resource Review Survey, which is accessible with any Gmail account.  (Please see additional information below.) Hard copies of the survey are also available with the materials at the library. An email notification regarding this latest opportunity to review curriculum materials was sent directly to all Bulldog parents on Monday, May 9th.  

OFCS Social Studies teachers in grades 6 through 8 previewed a multitude of Social Studies resources.  Multiple vendors provided a face-to-face overview of their materials. Teachers spent multiple days previewing the materials and using a quality review rubric to determine the strongest resource. Our teachers have identified World Geography, World History and US History from publisher Houghton Mifflin Harcourt as a very strong resource.

The social studies textbooks and supporting materials for each grade (6 through 8) will remain available for community review at the Olmsted Falls Public Library through the end of the day on Thursday, May 26th. (Extended from original May 20th review period end date.) Additionally, parents can further explore social studies electronic resources by visiting http://preview.hrw.com/sample/reg_sample.jspand registering for free Virtual Sampling. (Enter the sample word: NASS12 and fill in the required information to be emailed a username and password to preview the materials.)
