OFCS TO HOST DYSLEXIA SIMULATION EVENT ON OCTOBER 29TH - OPEN TO COMMUNITY

OCTOBER IS NATIONAL DYSLEXIA AWARENESS MONTH

In conjunction with National Dyslexia Awareness Month, the Helping Hands organization from Olmsted Falls City Schools will be hosting the Northern Ohio Branch of the International Dyslexia Association (NOBIDA) on Monday, October 29th for a special Dyslexia Simulation event.

How does it feel to be an individual with dyslexia? Through a series of simulations, participants will experience the challenges individuals with dyslexia confront when performing language-related tasks. This hands-on workshop is designed to improve understanding and encourage the use of effective teaching techniques and accommodations.

The event will begin sharply at 6pm and go until 8pm. The location is the Olmsted Falls Middle School located at 27045 Bagley Road. All staff and residents of Olmsted Falls are free and all other participants from surrounding communities are kindly asked to provide a $5.00 donation to NOBIDA. The event is open to 80 participants so we ask for RSVPs to help monitor the number of participants. if we exceed the 80 person capacity, we will create a wait list. The event is recommended for students ages 12+, parents and educators. If you have any questions, please contact Shannon Goss, Director of Student Services at sgoss@ofcs.net.
