INFORMATION REGARDING ALLEGATIONS OF TEACHER MISCONDUCT AT OFHS

The safety and well-being of our students is of the utmost importance to the teachers, staff and administrators at Olmsted Falls High School and Olmsted Falls Schools. As you may or may not be aware, allegations of inappropriate conduct by Olmsted Falls High School band instructor Mr. Ed Berry were brought to our attention on Wednesday, December 17th – just prior to the start of the winter break. We believe it is important to provide you with the information that we have to date, so that you can remain confident in our commitment to provide our students with a safe learning environment. An internal investigation was immediately launched with both High School and Central Office administrators working together to interview both students and parents. Within 24 hours of receiving the information, District officials had contacted Olmsted Township Police officials, Cuyahoga County Children’s Services, and the Ohio Department of Education’s Division of Teacher Misconduct. Mr. Berry was also placed on administrative leave within 24 hours of our receiving the information regarding the alleged misconduct. District officials continue to cooperate with local officials in this matter. A formal summary/timeline of actions taken is available for download below.
