OPERATION: MEDICINE CABINET - SAT., MAY 8TH

The purpose of "Operation: Medicine Cabinet" is to provide an opportunity for  people to safely dispose of any outdated or unwanted prescription medications.  "Operation: Medicine Cabinet" will be hosting a drop-off locations in our area on Saturday, May 8th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Nationally, teenage prescription drug abuse is rapidly increasing, and your family medicine chest could become a teenager's best supplier.  For additional information on this troubling trend, we invite you to download the report below issued by the Office of National Drug Control Policy:

More than 3 in 5 teens say prescription drugs are easy to get from medicine cabinets
and more than half say prescription drugs are "available everywhere" and easier to get than illicit drugs.  (Partnership Attitude Tracking Study, 2006)

WOULD YOU KNOW IF SOME OF YOUR PILLS ARE MISSING?
  • Monitor:  Take inventory of all prescription and over-the-counter drugs in your home and keep track of refills.
  • Secure: Lock up medications in a secure location and control access.
  • Dispose:  Remove any personal identifiable information from prescription bottles before discarding.  Do not flush medications down the drain or toilet.  Seek proper medication disposal methods (such as Operation: Medicine Cabinet Drop Off Locations.
  • Inform:  Ask friends and family to safeguard their prescription drugs as well.
