Dear Bulldogs:
Keeping our school families informed about district finances and the upcoming operating levy continues to be a top priority for Olmsted Falls City Schools. I am reaching out this morning with a brief update following the Board of Education’s regular monthly meeting held earlier this week.
On Monday night, the Board of Education passed a resolution to place an 8.9 mill continuous operating levy on the March 17, 2020 ballot. If successful, the Board of Education will be able to reduce the effective tax rate of the 8.9 mill levy to 7.9 mills by tapping into the District’s debt retirement fund and paying off an existing bond issue (from 2007) earlier than required.
The need for overall reductions in district expenses also continues to be part of the Board’s discussion. It is important to demonstrate to our taxpayers that we are doing everything possible to maintain our Triple A program while asking for the lowest tax increase possible.
The district will be hosting a series of community information sessions as a way to inform and hear from our community. Exact dates, times and locations of these information sessions will be announced following the Thanksgiving break, and I will personally email you with the schedule of opportunities to connect.
In addition to these scheduled community meetings, I am also available to meet with members of the community individually or in small group settings to share information, answer questions, and listen to feedback.
