IMPORTANT UPDATE: Upcoming Adjustments to OFCS Hybrid Schedule (9/28/20 5:15 PM)

Dear Bulldog Families:

I am emailing this afternoon with an important update regarding some adjustments we will be making to our district’s Hybrid schedule. Keeping our families informed and providing as much advance notice as possible ahead of schedule changes continues to be a priority for Olmsted Falls City Schools.  Another top priority is ensuring that we are providing as much personal, instructional time with students as possible.

In an effort to maximize in-person instruction time for our students in grades 1-12, we will be making adjustments to our current Hybrid schedule.  We will be revising the Hybrid schedule for those weeks which are shortened due to a holiday, break or staff professional development day.  For example, the annual NEOEA Day set for next Friday, October 9th, means a 4-day school week.  Our revised Hybrid schedule for the week of October 5th-9th will now be:  Blue Group attending in-person on Monday & Tuesday; Gold Group attending in person on Wednesday & Thursday.  For shortened weeks moving forward we will be eliminating the Wednesday Remote Learning Day, and adjusting the in-person attendance schedule accordingly, in order to ensure that all students receive maximum in-person instruction time.

Attached please find the OFCS Hybrid Calendar Schedule for October, November and December.  Please plan to reach out directly to your building principal should you have any questions about this adjusted schedule.  Please note that while we are providing you with hybrid schedule information for the next three month period, this schedule is subject to change based on the various COVID-19 data points we are tracking on a daily basis.

Looking ahead, we continue to closely monitor the data.  It remains our desire to transition to a 5-day a week, all-in plan when it becomes safe to do so given our class sizes and classroom space capacities.  In the event that we are not able to proceed with a 5-day a week model by January, we will plan to provide families with an updated hybrid schedule.  You can expect to see the same adjustments to the Hybrid schedule moving forward into the new year with changes being made accordingly for the weeks of: Martin Luther King Holiday (1/18/21), Presidents’ Day Holiday (2/15/21); and Staff Records Day (3/12/21).

As always, I want to extend our sincere appreciation and thanks for your ongoing support of Olmsted Falls City Schools.

Sincerely,

Jim
