To OFCS Families of Students with District-Issued Chromebook Devices:
You are receiving this message because you may have one or more students in your household who have been issued a district Chromebook device for use during the 2021-2022 school year. We are emailing to provide information about the district’s OPTIONAL Chromebook Insurance Plan. If your student does not have a district-issued Chromebook device, you can disregard this email.
Each year, Olmsted Falls City School District offers families an opportunity to participate in an OPTIONAL Chromebook Insurance Plan to release the parent/guardian from having to pay for damage to their child’s district-issued device (up to 2 claims during the school year). This year, the district will only be offering a single insurance plan which can be purchased for an individual student. The family plan offered in previous years has been discontinued.
Below please find an overview of the 2021-2022 OPTIONAL Chromebook Insurance Plan:
OFCS Individual Chromebook Insurance Plan
Cost: $50 per student
Coverage Period: 2021-2022 School Year ending June 7, 2022
Includes: Up to TWO (2) claims maximum per year for the designated student’s device. Plan covers repair or replacement of LCD screens, keyboards, AC chargers and cameras. Plan does NOT cover damage caused by liquid spills or neglect; plan also does NOT cover lost or stolen device or AC charger.
The Optional Chromebook Insurance Plans will be available for purchase from September 10th-24th through your EZPay account. The Individual Chromebook Insurance Plan must be selected and purchased by Friday, September 24th in order to be activated for the current school year. After September 24, 2021, the Optional Chromebook Insurance will no longer be available for purchase for the current school year.
For devices not covered by the district’s Optional Chromebook Insurance Plan, families are responsible for the cost to repair/replace the device your child has been issued. Following are examples of estimated repair/replacement costs that could be incurred:
Cracked Screen $75
AC Charger $35
Complete Device Replacement $275
How To Purchase an Individual Chromebook Insurance Plan:
If you are interested in purchasing an OFCS Individual Chromebook Insurance Plan (or plans) for one or more students in your household, below are the directions to pay for and finalize the insurance coverage for your child’s device:
1) Click on this link https://www.spsezpay.com/Olmsted/login.aspx
2) Login to your EZ-PAY account (if you do not have one you may create one)
3) Select the student for whom you would like to purchase an Individual Chromebook Insurance Plan
4) In the upper right hand corner of the screen you will see an option for ACTIVITY FEE
5) Click ACTIVITY FEE and select “OFCS Individual Chromebook Insurance Plan” ($50).
6) Payment is due at the time of sign-up. This will begin coverage for the Chromebook.
7) To purchase an Individual Chromebook Insurance Plan for another student, please select that student and repeat Steps 3-6.
An Individual Chromebook Insurance Plan will be activated for each student once payment is posted.
Again, the deadline for securing optional insurance coverage is Friday, September 24th. If you have not purchased the optional coverage by September 24, 2021, you will not have coverage for the 2021-2022 school year.
