OFCS March 2020 Operating Levy: Transportation Reduction Information for 2020-2021 School Year

Last Updated: 2/25/2020 4:59 PM

To be implemented in August 2020 if the OFCS Operating Levy (Issue 29) does not pass on March 17, 2020.

In an effort to provide families with detailed information regarding the potential cuts to busing services, Olmsted Falls City School District is making available transportation boundary maps for each school building impacted in our community.  Please click on the appropriate link(s) below to see if your home falls inside or outside of the two-mile cut-off for your student's school building. (Please note that all high school bus service will be eliminated with a reduction to State transportation minimums, therefore there is not a map link for Olmsted Falls High School.)

Roads marked in BLUE indicate addresses that fall WITHIN the 2-mile routing cut-off that would NOT receive bus service.  Roads marked in GREEN indicate addresses that fall OUTSIDE the 2-mile routing cut-off that would continue to receive bus service.  If you cannot tell whether your home is inside or outside of the cut-off for a particular school building, please contact the transportation department at (440) 427-6350 for assistance.

Please also note the following:

  • Transportation route distance for each household is determined by the shortest, driveable road distance.
  • Transportation eligibility is determined individually for each student based on the school building attended.  For families with students attending different school buildings, it is possible that one student in a household might receive transportation while another might not.
  • Students outside the 2-mile cut-off who will continue to receive bus service per state minimum requirements may have a change in location for their bus stop.
  • In addition to reduction in bus route service, Olmsted Falls City School District will also suspend ALL Alternate Transportation Requests Forms for the 2020-2021 school year.
  • These reductions in transportation services will save approximately $383,000 going into the 2020-2021 school year, and help prevent even deeper cuts to the instruction staff and core educational program. These reductions in transportation services are a part of $1.7 million in budget reductions that would need to be implemented for the 2020-21 school year if the March levy should fail.
