Dear OFMS Parents:
The Boy Scouts of America has a program called Exploring, which is geared towards career selection and vocational training. Exploring has recently partnered with Southwest General Hospital to offer a program that allows middle school-aged students to explore whether careers in healthcare are of interest to them.
Exploring's Southwest General Hospital middle school career exploration boot camp will focus on the many different paths you can take as you explore a future in health care. This program will meet for 6 weeks on Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m. Sports medicine, rehabilitation, nutrition, pharmacology, nursing, information technology, radiology, laboratory, and surgery will be showcased. Participation in hands-on activities will provide a realistic job preview to help you decide if a career in health care is for you. You will have an opportunity to meet with professionals at Southwest who work in these careers every day using the latest technology, are apprised of emerging trends, and know what it takes to be successful in college to pursue their specific career in health care.
On top of it all, you will make new friends and have lots of fun. This co-ed program is specifically for 7th and 8th grade students in the following communities: Berea, Brook Park, Columbia Station, Middleburg Hts., Olmsted Falls and Strongsville. This program is offered to the first 40 students to sign up on our registration link-a waiting list will also be available. Don't miss out!
